包裝瓶罐、容器上一層薄薄的收縮膜,不僅承載品牌形象,也提供消費者使用資訊。好的品牌靠好的包裝來相得益彰,但品質好、印刷細緻的包裝,卻只有「巷子內的人」才知道。做收縮膜起家的谷源實業,正在打破產業的潛規則,以提供「全方位包裝解決方案」為品牌宣言,矢言打響AllenPack名號。

That thin shrink film wrapped around bottles, jars, and containers not only carries a brand’s image but also provides essential information to consumers. Strong brands rely on great packaging to complement their value. Yet, high-quality, finely printed packaging has long been something known only to “insiders.”

Starting out in shrink film, Allenpack is breaking the industry’s unspoken rules. With the brand statement of delivering “comprehensive packaging solutions,” the company is determined to make the Allenpack name stand out.

  「不是所有收縮膜都可以印刷,有的只能純包裝用。要做印刷標籤用收縮膜,又是另一個坎站(台語「程度」之意)、另一個Level(層級)。」

 

  谷源實業總經理王谷原娓娓道來父親於1980年初,在台灣石化產業蓬勃發展之際創業,但原物料與訂單都被中間貿易商掌控,初期經營相當辛苦,直到摸索出塑膠粒生產PVC收縮膜的最適配方後,業務才開始不斷擴展。1993年開始生產可做為印刷標籤用的收縮膜,2005年再設印刷廠。


  接著5年時間,谷源就跨入了收縮膜機械設備的設計,2010年開始自行生產應用機台,從自動貼標與套標機、熱收縮爐等包裝機械,到收縮標籤的塑膠加工機械如高速切片機、分條機、合掌機等。

  「Not all shrink films can be printed on—some can only be used for simple packaging. To make shrink film suitable for printed labels, that’s another kan zhan (a Taiwanese term meaning “level” or “degree”), another level altogether,” explained Mr. Wang, General Manager of Allenpack.

  He recounted how his father founded the business in the early 1980s, during Taiwan’s petrochemical boom. At the time, raw materials and orders were tightly controlled by trading companies, making operations difficult in the beginning. Only after experimenting and discovering the optimal formula for producing PVC shrink film from resin pellets did the business begin to expand. By 1993, Allenpack started producing shrink film specifically for printed labels, and in 2005, it established its own printing plant.

  Within the next five years, Allenpack entered the field of shrink film machinery design. By 2010, the company had begun producing its own packaging equipment, ranging from automatic labeling and sleeving machines, and heat shrink ovens, to plastic processing machinery for shrink labels, such as high-speed slicers, slitters, and forming machines.

  「收縮膜沒有人在做品牌,為什麼我們想做?要怎麼做?」第二代接手經營的王谷原坦言包裝膜料上面都沒有LOGO,「誰知道是誰做的?」正因為這樣,曾有南非貿易商拿谷源收縮膜樣品交給國際瓶裝水大廠在坦尚尼亞的買家,但拿到訂單後卻用中國製的次級成品交貨,還謊稱是「AllenPack in China(谷源在中國)」工廠所做,導致谷源聲譽受損」。


  這也讓谷源一再思考,要如何建立起自己的品牌,讓優勢被看見。學機械的王谷原從自己的專長著手,往收縮膜包裝產業的上游走,運用「設備搭材料」發展出整合服務,開發出客製化的利基市場,打造出這個行業獨樹一幟的品牌。


  在找到合適的商業模式之前,谷源也度過一段慘澹經營的日子。王谷原回憶,由於跨足設備的起步比較晚,2004年谷源生產的OEM套標機外銷美國時,臺灣業界已經很多廠商在做立式套標機,競爭相當激烈。王谷原坦言,當時一直在思索「要怎麼跳脫紅海,做跟人家不一樣的機台?」

  “No one was building a brand for shrink film—so why did we want to, and how?” admitted second-generation successor Mr. Wang, noting that packaging film itself carries no logo: “Who would know who made it?”

  Because of this, a South African trader once took AllenPack’s shrink film samples to an international bottled water giant in Tanzania. But after securing the order, he delivered inferior products from China instead—falsely claiming they were made at an “AllenPack in China” factory. This left AllenPack’s reputation damaged.

  This incident prompted AllenPack to reflect deeply on how to build its own brand and make its strengths visible. With a background in mechanical engineering, Mr. Wang leveraged his expertise to move upstream in the shrink film packaging industry. By combining “equipment with materials,” he developed integrated solutions and tapped into customized niche markets, building a truly distinctive brand in the sector.

  Before finding the right business model, however, AllenPack went through some difficult years. Mr. Wang recalled that since the company was a late mover into equipment, when its OEM shrink-labeling machines were exported to the U.S. in 2004, many Taiwanese firms were already competing fiercely in vertical labelers. “I kept asking myself,” he admitted, “How do we break out of this red ocean and design machines that are truly different?”

打瞄準市場痛點  創新研發臥式套標機

  「當時業界普遍使用的是可自動套標又快速的立式機台,但針對那些站不起來,要躺著套的商品,就只能靠人工,」王谷原看到了這個市場的特殊需求。2016年,他帶領工程團隊,創新研發出業界第一台「臥式套標機」,可處理從直徑8mm到30mm的商品,像是唇膏、眉筆、瞬間膠、雪茄等細瘦管狀,小尺寸難站立包裝的商品也難不倒它。


  谷源的臥式套標機採全自動操控,並具自動感測功能,確保收縮膜與包裝物件精準貼合、不易變形;搭載專利裝置,可輕鬆地與現有包裝產線整合或獨立運作;速度也是全球最快,一分鐘可套250瓶,估計可省下10幾個手工貼標的人力,大幅降低成本;加上「Made in Taiwan」的品質保證,榮獲2021年台灣精品獎肯定。


  由於產品切合需求,日本美妝大廠資生堂(SHISEIDO)和開架美妝品牌商跨國來台採購,連做生意向來龜毛的以色列客戶都接連下單兩台。「今年春天,日本最大印刷廠主動派工程師前來拜訪,希望洽談合作,」王谷原難掩興奮地透露,這家日經225指數成分股的日本印刷集團,尋找相關設備已有一段時間,直到看了谷源的臥式套標機影片,專程派人到台灣了解,並表明希望由台灣團隊負責設備的售後維護與服務。

  “At the time, most in the industry used vertical labeling machines, which worked well for fast, automatic sleeving of upright products. But for items that couldn’t stand and had to be sleeved lying down, companies still had to rely on manual labor,” recalled Mr. Wang, who saw a market gap.

In 2016, he led the engineering team to develop the industry’s first horizontal sleeving machine, designed for products ranging from 8mm to 30mm in diameter—such as lipsticks, eyebrow pencils, instant adhesives, cigars, and other slender, tube-like items that were difficult to package.

  Allenpack’s horizontal sleeving machine is fully automated with sensing functions that ensure shrink film precisely fits objects without distortion.    Equipped with patented devices, it can easily integrate into existing packaging lines or operate independently. It also runs at the world’s fastest speed—250 bottles per minute—saving the equivalent of more than ten workers needed for manual labeling, dramatically lowering costs. With the assurance of “Made in Taiwan” quality, the machine won the 2021 Taiwan Excellence Award.

  Because the machine solved real pain points, major Japanese beauty brand Shiseido and other global cosmetics companies came to Taiwan to place orders. Even notoriously demanding Israeli buyers ordered two machines in succession. “This spring, Japan’s largest printing company proactively sent engineers to visit us, hoping to discuss cooperation,” Mr. Wang said with excitement. The company, a component of the Nikkei 225 index, had been searching for similar equipment for some time. After watching a video of Allenpack’s horizontal sleeving machine, they decided to come to Taiwan and expressed their desire for the Taiwanese team to handle after-sales maintenance and service.

講情義不怕煩 國際客戶遍布六大洲

  谷源現在有7成客戶來自海外,除南極外,六大洲都有客戶。如此國際化的經營,很難想像谷源開拓外銷市場,最初是為了擺脫臺灣市場的惡性競爭。


  「我完全沒有外銷的經驗,為了生存只好往前衝,」王谷原回憶,他在德國橡塑膠展中,遇到指點他做出口業務的「貴人」,才開始做起國際包裝的生意。因為這個美好的際遇,王谷原認為,「做生意,就是在交朋友,交朋友就是要『講情義』。」


  王谷原舉例,一位巴西印刷廠客戶想跨入收縮標籤行業,谷源不僅賣他材料還教他怎麼做。雙方多年生意往來,每當王谷原到巴西,這位客戶總是熱情款待,直到現在對方都已退休,情誼仍不減;還有一位美國客戶在機場免稅店銷售禮品,對印刷要求挑剔如精品,王谷原不怕麻煩,阿莎力地接下該客戶少量多樣的客製化訂單,一次次解決客戶的包裝難題,「今年還從歐洲買了一台可印刷特殊效果的機台,就是為了滿足客戶需求,」王谷原說。

  Today, Allenpack has 70% of its customers overseas, covering every continent except Antarctica. With such an international footprint, it’s hard to imagine that the company’s push into exports originally came from a need to escape the cutthroat competition of the Taiwan market.

  “I had absolutely no experience in exports—survival was my only option, so I had to charge forward,” recalled Mr. Wang. At a plastics and rubber exhibition in Germany, he met a mentor who guided him into export business, opening the door to global packaging opportunities. Because of this serendipitous encounter, Mr. Wang firmly believes: “Doing business is about making friends, and making friends is about trust and loyalty.”

  For example, when a Brazilian printing company wanted to enter the shrink-label industry, Allenpack not only sold him materials but also taught him how to do it. Over many years of cooperation, whenever Mr. Wang traveled to Brazil, this client always treated him warmly. Even after the client retired, the friendship remains strong. Another customer in the U.S., selling gifts at airport duty-free shops, demanded label printing with luxury-brand quality standards. Mr. Wang never shied away from the challenge, taking on small, customized orders and solving each packaging difficulty. “This year, we even purchased a machine from Europe that can print special effects—just to meet this customer’s needs,” said Mr. Wang.

  王谷原不諱言,中小企業做外銷生意,遇到客訴特別棘手。王谷原舉例,好幾次中南美洲的客戶提出「膜料有問題」,打著「那麼遠,你可能不會過來」的如意算盤,谷源的做法就是直球面對,派人親赴當地,請客戶實際將AllenPack的膜料放到印刷機台去跑跑看,果然順利解決客訴。


  「谷源至今售出的機台還沒收過任何故障反饋,」王谷原驕傲的說,「百分之百MIT」自主生產包材與設備,加上實力堅強的工程師團隊,售後服務佳,是建立「AllenPack」品牌國際聲譽的關鍵,「就連潛在競爭對手,也介紹同業來跟谷源購買收縮膜材料。」

  Mr. Wang openly admits that for small and medium-sized businesses, handling overseas complaints can be especially challenging. He recalled several cases in Latin America where customers claimed “the film had quality issues,” assuming Allenpack wouldn’t travel so far to investigate. But Allenpack faced the problem head-on, sending staff directly to the site and asking the customer to run Allenpack film on their printing machines—proving it worked perfectly and resolving the complaints.

  “To this day, not a single one of our machines has ever had a reported malfunction,” said Mr. Wang with pride. With 100% Made-in-Taiwan production of both packaging materials and equipment, a strong team of engineers, and reliable after-sales service, Allenpack has built a solid global reputation. “Even potential competitors have referred peers to us to buy shrink film materials,” he added.

  In recent years, Allenpack has made significant investments, importing the latest processing equipment and printing machines from Europe. The company has extended from vertical integration into higher-value horizontal expansions, such as shrink sleeves for wine bottles, specialty packaging with Braille for the visually impaired, and RFID-enabled smart labels. At the Packaging Exhibition in June 2025, Allenpack will unveil a new machine equipped with AI-powered modules—part of its strategy to achieve brand differentiation.
